This class showcases the interoperability of 3ds Max software with other products, such as Revit software and AutoCAD software. This class is all about linking and reloading files from other software products into a 3ds Max scene. We will start by learning about the various settings that can be configured while linking a Revit (.rvt) file. We will then create a new linking preset and modify it as per specific requirements. Learn to use the new preset to bring a Revit file into the 3ds Max scene. Finally, we will use a variation of the source Revit file and learn how to load those changes to show up directly in the 3ds Max scene. If time permits, we will explore the interoperability of AutoCAD and 3ds Max software products.

The quality of a scan-to-BIM (Building Information Modeling) model can vary, depending on the surveyor, instrument used, field conditions, and especially the requirements specified. There are, however, no industry standards templates available to follow. This class will focus on the essentials for developing a scan-to-BIM execution plan, starting from providing and clarifying scope of work to defining LOD requirements. There are a lot of potential risks that we need to identify and highlight when picking up a scan-to-BIM job. We will discuss some of these cases with project examples. Basic tools like Revit software, ReCap software, and Navisworks software can help us through this process of visualizing model mistakes and getting a quality product. We will learn several tips that can assist us while facing the quality control of a model replicated from a point cloud. Those tips will also help us locate where the focus should go in each case.

Come and discover the BIM 360 Glue software API. This API (application programming interface) is composed of 2 parts: the Web Services API and the display component. The Web Services API is REST-based, and it enables you to access your BIM 360 Glue software data, such as users, models, and actions. You can imbed the display component, or Viewer API, in your application. Using the BIM 360 Glue software API, you can, for example, automate the updating of projects and models from external applications. BIM 360 Glue software keeps track of a user's actions as data in additional to traditional model-centric information. You can also use such information to make a report that will keep track of a team's progress. Of course, BIM 360 Glue software is totally cloud based, so you can connect your own web services applications with the BIM 360 Glue software projects. We will also use examples of use cases to demonstrate what you can do with the BIM 360 Glue software API.
