This class showcases the interoperability of 3ds Max software with other products, such as Revit software and AutoCAD software. This class is all about linking and reloading files from other software products into a 3ds Max scene. We will start by learning about the various settings that can be configured while linking a Revit (.rvt) file. We will then create a new linking preset and modify it as per specific requirements. Learn to use the new preset to bring a Revit file into the 3ds Max scene. Finally, we will use a variation of the source Revit file and learn how to load those changes to show up directly in the 3ds Max scene. If time permits, we will explore the interoperability of AutoCAD and 3ds Max software products.

This presentation will focus on simulation techniques used to compare traditional hurling stick material and performance against a composite redesign. We used several Autodesk tools—including Fusion 360 software, Netfabb software, Moldflow, and Autodesk Nastran software—to evaluate and optimize the performance of the composite structure.

In this class, we will get in-depth with the Sheet Set Manager and discuss and create sheets and sheet sets. We will learn about custom properties and how to use them to store huge amounts of reusable data. We will learn about sheet views and how to use them to make adding our design details to the plans a breeze. We will discuss how we can use the Sheet Set Manager as a lightweight project explorer to navigate all our projects’ design files. We will discuss and learn about labeling our sheets and sheet views. We will learn how to create blocks with predefined attributes that will fill in data from the sheet set automatically. We will learn how to quickly plot or publish individual or multiple sheets with minimal clicks. Lastly, we will learn how to organize our sheets with subsets or with selection sets to track additional stages in the design or construction processes.

In this class, you will hear about the journey Reynaers Aluminium took to move from its old product data management (PDM) system to a fully integrated solution: CAD, PDM, PLM (product lifecycle management), and enterprise resource planning (ERP). You will learn about the how and why behind our architecture and the lessons learned during implementation. Get insight into the place PDM and PLM have in our organization today, how they are connected with other core databases, and what our further digitalization road map looks like. Also discover how Fusion Lifecycle offers article lifecycle management as well as full project management by streamlining our NPI (new product introduction) flow. All project phases are implemented into Fusion Lifecyle, including a customized project management tab to enable real project planning. This class will be an amazing experience. We will show you a new way to use 3ds Max software and other computer graphics (CG) tools in collaboration with historians, such as Egyptologists, to reconstruct heritage architecture and other monuments. The class will consist of two parts. The first part will be a quick review of the ancient Egyptian tombs, the way they were built, and why they have been destroyed. The second part will address techniques used for CG reconstruction of a masterpiece—the tomb of Nefertari. You'll see the complete workflow from idea to final visualization. We’ll show how textures were reconstructed in Adobe Photoshop, and how 3D models were created and textured in 3ds Max software, then lit and rendered using Corona Renderer. This reconstruction was presented for a 360-degree clip for planetarium use and a stereoscopic clip for National Geographic.

To manage the ever-increasing complexity and collaboration in the creation of physical assets for LAIKA's hybrid stop-motion/CG features, a Shotgun-based integrated browser workflow was developed that enables automated resource leveling and scheduling in a centralized system accessible to the entire studio. Highlights include a new custom charting application that integrates with the existing Shotgun infrastructure, as well as the use of Consilium Technology (recently acquired by Autodesk), a new, machine-learning-based, automated resource-leveling system that effectively balances and assigns resources. Together, they turn a time-consuming and error-prone manual leveling process into a fast and automated procedure that generates an accurate, adjustable, easy-to-communicate schedule.

We4bee pursues the goal of establishing a worldwide network of high-tech beehives. This is not only to promote environmental research and education, but also to establish an early warning system for earthquakes and other natural disasters. This project collaborates with the University of Würzburg, Germany. In this class Dr. Claudia Leikam (CEO of we4bee), Professor Hotho and Padraig Davidson from the Chair of Computer Science X (big data and machine learning), Professor Jürgen Tautz (THE bee expert), and the engineer Hans Neumayr will give us an overview about this research project. Hans Neumayr used Fusion 360 software and EAGLE software to create the electronics equipment and some mechanical parts of the beehives. Professor Hotho and Mr. Davidson will provide information on data collection and analysis. Professor Tautz is the well-known bee expert, and Dr. Leikam will give you a view of the scientific aspects of this amazing project.
