Conducting a quick storage estimate

Step-by-step:

Once the basic shape of a pond has been defined, the next task is to conduct a quick storage estimate to obtain an approximate value for the volume. This is then refined by simulating the network with a series of design storms.

1. Open the model containing the pond.
2. In the ribbon, Results tab, Reports panel, click Inflow Summary.
   
3. The Inflow Summary dialog box appears. Scroll to the bottom of the table.
4. Note the Total area to be analyzed; in this case, it is 2.521 hectares.
5. Close the dialog.
   
6. In the Plan View, double-click the Pond icon.
7. From the Pond dialog box, open the Sizing Calculator.
8. Expand the Method drop-down and set it to Quick Storage Estimate.
9. Expand the Design up to drop-down to Freeboard.
10. Click the calculator icon.
    

11. In the Quick Storage Estimate dialog box, set the Input Type drop-down to User Input.
12. For the Area, enter 2.52
13. For the Volumetric Runoff Coefficient, enter 0.750.
14. Enter a Discharge Rate of 16.1.
15. Expand the drop-down below the Safety Factor value and set it to Quick.
16. Enable the SRP Wizard FSR option.
17. Click Calculate to view the results.
    

18. Review the Quick Storage Estimate.

19. Click OK to close the Quick Storage Estimate.
20. Click OK to close the Sizing Calculator.
21. Click OK again to close the Pond dialog.
