Design a storage bin using CAD

This practical project leverages some of Fusion 360’s best features and intended workflows. It's intended to be customizable in its physical size and shape, but also in material choice and manufacturing method. In this project, you’ll create circular relief cuts at inside corners (“dog bones”), change parameters to rapidly change overall sizes and material thickness, export compensated DXF files for laser cutting or waterjet machines, and modify the design for 3-axis milling.

After completing this project, you’ll be able to:

  • Design a customizable assembly using the top-down modeling approach.
  • Set up and use parameters, dimensions, and geometric constraints to change the model.
  • Create rectangular pattern features.
  • Apply a physical material to a solid and apply an appearance override.
  • Export kerf compensated DXF files for laser cutting or waterjet machines.
  • Create “dog bones” at critical locations, allowing adjacent parts to assembly properly.
